The Fortnight for Freedom is a national campaign designated by the U.S. Catholic bishops for teaching and witness in support of religious liberty. It is part of an effort to teach people the importance of religious freedom in light of the HHS mandate outlined in Obamacare.
The bishops have prepared reflections and readings from the Vatican II document Declaration on Religious Liberty (Dignitatis Humanae). The readings are intended for daily use during the Fortnight for Freedom and will help promote dialog and reflection on the importance of defending religious liberty.

The Stop HHS Mandate website continues to provide exceptional insight into the HHS Mandate controversy. Lawsuits have been filed that challenge the constitutionality of the mandate. Read the latest article here.
The HHS mandate — set to take effect in February 2013 for all religious employers who were granted an extension to conform to the policy — is also the target of three lawsuits filed in federal court by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, which argues that the mandate violates the plaintiffs’ First Amendment and federal statutory rights to be free from government-imposed burdens on religious liberty.
Everyone should be concerned about how the Obama administration continues to infringe on our First Amendment’s guarantee to the free exercise of religion.
Your voice must be heard. Don’t sit by silently while our government extinguishes our religious freedom. Use Facebook, Twitter, Google+ to voice your concerns. And sign the petition if you haven’t done so already.
